The Savannah Regional Security Council chaired by the regional minister, Hon Saeed Muhazu Jibril on Wednesday 13th April, 2022, led a delegation from the Regional Security Council ( RESEC ) and the Municipal Security Council ( MUSEC ) to the Damongo Nurses training college to address issues of concern bothering the student body of the school to avert a brewing demonstration.
Addressing students and management of the school, the regional minister, reiterated his commitment towards the wellbeing of students and management of the school.
The minister used the visit to announce to the students some measures taken in the interim to help resolve the impasse between students and the school management which has existed for sometime now.
He assured the SRC board that, the students representatives Council will have a bank account opened for them in a couple of weeks so that the SRC leadership can effectively manage their affairs well without any hindrances adding that, buses will be provided to convey students on clinicals to and from their clinical destinations in the interim until such a time their school bus is repaired or when a new bus is procured.
On monitoring and supervision, the minister noted with concerned that, monitoring has been a challenge which affect clinical students because their school tutors don't avail themselves to monitor and supervise them during clinicals.
Hon. Muhazu disclose that, vehicles will be provided through the collaborative efforts of the Regional Coordinating Council and the West Gonja Municipal Assembly for the staff of the school to facilitate monitoring during clinicals at various clinical sites.
On the delay in payment of school fees, the minister appealed to students to pay their fees on time to enable the management to effectively run the affairs of the school.
The regional minister was accompanied by the Savannah Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Yaw Adu-Asamoah, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari MCE for West Gonja Municipal Assembly, the Regional Police commander, ASP Peter Baba, the Regional Army Commander, Mr. Osei, West Gonja Municipal fire Service Commander, A.D.O 2 Philip Okumah and many others.
