The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district, Madam Lonsina Barkisu Watara has called on traditional leaders, NGOs, CSOs, and other individuals to come to the aid of Nakwabi Children's Home, located at the Nakwabi community in the district.
Mrs Losina Watara Barkisu said this will help keep the home running and caring for these innocent lives for a better future.
Mrs Losina Barkisu stated this when Jaksally Development Organization's Director, Jeremiah Seidu visited the Home and made donations.
The Nakwabi Children's Home is an organisation which has been catering for the homeless children and orphans for over a decade now and currently has about 22 children under its care. The organization's major source of income is through farming, where produce are used to care for the children as little as two weeks old.
Mr Jeremiah Seidu, Executive Director of Jaksally Development Organisation, a Non-Governmental Organisation, visited the orphanage and donated some clothings to them on May 11, 2022, at Nakwabi.
Presenting the clothing, Mr. Jeremiah called on the chiefs and people of the area to show love and support to the children by visiting the Home often and interacting with them.
He also called on Ghanaians to develop interest in adopting children who by no fault of theirs, have been rendered homeless and care for these children to become responsible adults whether they have children or not.
...... “for me, it doesn’t matter whether you have children or not, our chiefs, the people and Ghanaians in general must show love and make those children their own, such practices always attract the favor of God”, he appealed.
He stated that such children have always found themselves in orphanages where they do not have any direct contact with their biological parents and are left in the mercies of care givers, who are not well to do people.
Therefore, adopting and caring for such ophans, who are now destitute into their homes and nurturing them to become responsible citizens, were what a good citizen could do, to compliment his or her good works for the country and receive more Blessings from God, he stated.
Mr Jeremiah noted he was touched by the spirit of God to mobilize resources from his friends, family and well wishers through his NGO, Jaksally Development Organisation to support these children.
And therefore, appealed to various stakeholders in the country such as chiefs, the Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, people living in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Wa, Bolga and across the country to come to the aid of the home as it is currently faced with inadequate food, clothing and others for the deprived children.
He indicated that people who are willing to support the ophanage with clothing and other material or financial support can contact Jaksally Development Organisation or can reach out to any radio/tv station in the country and the support will get to him. All people who support this course will be acknowledged duly.
The leadership of Nakwabi Children’s Home in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region is also appealing to the government and private organisations to support their quest to cater for the under privileged children under their care.
Rev. Sister Jane Mary, who received the items on behalf of the home, expressed gratitude to Mr Jeremiah for his kind gesture and prayed to God to reward him abundantly. She said the clothing will make the children happy and will go a long way to reduce the burden on the home.
She pleaded to other benevolent individuals, institutions and corporate bodies to emulate Mr. Jeremiah.
Sister Jane Marry said running of the home has become challenging due to inadequate resources and appealed for more support to ensure that the Home is able to adequately provide for the children
“We need more support to help us take care of the children in terms of feeding, clothing and schooling. We depend solely on farming to keep the Home running and support such as this, will help make the children happy.
She disclosed that Home has ventured into farming of groundnut, maize, yam and guinea corn to supplement efforts in taking care of the children but due to high cost of farm inputs, this year's farm size has been reduced.
Mr Jeremiah later visited Kongfali, a farming community in the same district to make another donation to three (3) women widow groups, 'Women in environment' protection, who came together to stop illegal charcoal burning in the community.
