The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and natural resources, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor has donated 1,000 dual desk furniture to basic schools in the Damongo constituency.
At a short ceremony on Tuesday, 7th June, 2022 to hand over the furniture to the Municipal education directorate, the coordinator at the office of the MP, Mr. Bawah Fuseini said the donation by the MP was in response to the numerous calls made by some community members and the educational directorate to help improve in the education of the people in the constituency.
The Municipal Chief executive for the West Gonja municipal Assembly, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari on his part said, the donation by the Hon. MP was to help facilitate teaching and learning in the area adding that, the law maker has taken education as a major priority and committed to supporting the development of education in the municipality and assured that many more of such donations will follow in the near future.
The Municipal education director, Mr. Akey Ferguson who received the furniture on behalf of the education directorate for onward distribution to about forty basic schools in the area expressed gratitude to the MP and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources for the gesture.
He explained that, the donation is the highest to have been received as a directorate as far as furniture is concern during his tenure as Municipal director of education and hoping that the gesture will help reduce the furniture situation in the schools.
Mr. Akey Ferguson noted that the member of parliament and the municipal chief executive have been very supportive to the directorate in all other areas of education including supervision, furniture and infrastructure.
He Assured the MP of putting the furniture into good use to help enhance teaching and learning in the area.
