Some residents in Mempeasem, a community in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region were rendered homeless after a heavy downpour of rain on Wednesday 15th June, 2022 at about 5:40pm.
Parts of the community was flooded following hours of torrential rainfall, a situation which compelled residents to evacuate their homes to seek shelter in other buildings and facilities in the community.
The Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Adam Bavug who visited the affected victims explained that, the rains which was supposed to be a blessing to the residents rather turned to cause damages and sleepless nights for many in the Mempeasem area.
According to him, information gathered has it that, the heavy was couple with somea running water from a dam near the community which overflowed it's banks and made its way into the homes of the affected victims pulling down some of their rooms rendering them homeless.
He further explained that, his outfit has sinced advised the affected victims to relocate to the community school since it is the only save and higher ground place in the community.
One of the affected victims by name Daboh shared his ordeal with source and called on stakeholders, philanthropist and NGO's to come their aid as they are currently homeless.
