iVALLEY GHANA hub in the Savannah regional capital, Damongo in partnership with Ghana Tech Lab has held its second stakeholders consultative meeting at Damongo in the savannah region on Thursday, 9th June, 2022, to gather consensus on the potentials and roles of web development technology in the local digital economy and also how it propels youth employment in the community and the region at large.
The meeting was themed; The Role of AgriTech in Transforming the Local Economy for Job Creation and Economic Development.
The meeting brought together 40 stakeholders from the six (6) pillars within the Ecosystem namely, Human Capital, Support Infrastructure and Hubs, Accessible Market, Media and Culture, Access to Finance and Government and Regulations.
The stakeholders were drawn into focus groups to identify key challenges and corresponding policy solutions for both local and national, to help promote a digital economy in the Savannah region.
The stakeholders at the meeting collectively identified the current market needs of jobs in AgriTech and skills gaps. They singled out the needed interventions to help bridge the gap and solve the challenges facing the industry. The engagement of the key stakeholders in the region is a nucleus to deliver a policy document that would feed into the development of a well-structured policy and an informed curriculum which will ultimately serve as a blueprint for achieving a local digital economy through a digital media transformation in Ghana.
Some of the stakeholders and institutions present were Tolodompewura Abdallah Ahmed from CHRAJ, Mr. Bright Bentum, an agric engineer at the Damongo Agricultural College, Mr. Hermas Sibeko, the CEO of Rampa farms and the Municipal best farmer of the year, Tree Aid Ghana, Arocha Ghana, Ghana Enterprises Agency, Business Resource Center and many more.
Director of iValley Ghana, Mr, Nabil Mahama in his welcome address highlighted more about the organizations Pathways to sustainable Employment (PaSE) Program, under their partnership with Ghana Tech Lab. He talked about some of the hubs programs including their incubation program for entrepreneurs and young businesse.
