The CEO of Naada Jinapor Foundation and wife of Damongo Constituency Mp, Mrs Naada Abdulai Jinapor and her Naada foundation has planted over 2,000 seedlings in Busunu, a community in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
In a brief address on Friday, 10th June, 2022 to mark this year's green Ghana day under the theme: "mobilizing for a greener future" at Busunu before the commencement of the planting of tree, Mrs Naada Jinapor explained that the Green Ghana initiative was set aside by the Ministry of Lands and natural resources as part of it's conscious effort to revegetate Ghana and to help stop deforestation and restore our deplated forest.
She further explained that, all living things including human beings depend on trees for their survival, hence, the need for all to be concerned when it comes to greening Ghana and as well as Restoring our vegetation.
According to her, an estimated number of 20 million trees were expected to be planted across the country and the Savannah region was set to plant 1.2 million trees with the Naada foundation planting over 2,000 trees on bear lands in the Busunu area.
On how to sustain the trees, Mrs Naada Jinapor said, it is their responsibility as a foundation and the entire citizenry to do the planting and as well help the forestry commission to revegetate our forest with the responsibility of the commission and it's related institutions to nurture and protect the trees to ensure that the grow and become the forest that they are looking forward to.
She disclosed that statistics available to her foundation has it that, about 80% of last year's Green Ghana day trees survived and that she is very hopeful that care will be given to the trees planted to ensure their sustainability.
She was joined by the Damongo constituency executives of the NPP, the Paramount Chief of the Busunu Traditional Area, Busunuwura Monasa Jonokpawu II and his elders, members of the Naada foundation, school children and some community members in the Busunu area.
