The municipal chief executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari has disclosed of plans by the West Gonja Municipal Assembly targeting to plant 120,000 trees in this year's green Ghana day which is scheduled to take place on june, 10th across the country.
The MCE explained that, the West Gonja municipal Assembly is working closely with the forestry commission, heads of departments and agencies in the municipality and in the regional capital to ensure that they meet their set target of planting 120,000 trees this year.
He commended the Minister for lands and natural resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor for initiating the green Ghana day which is aimed at creating a collective action towards the restoration of our degraded landscapes in the country and to mitigate climate change and to as well inculcate in the youth the values of planting and nurturing trees and their associated benefits.
He has therefore called on the general public and institutions in the municipality to come out in their numbers to help grace this year's event.
This year's green Ghana day is scheduled to take place across the country on the 10th of June, 2022 and as such, the Municipal Chief executive together with the savannah regional Minister will be leading the event at Damongo to plant trees at some selected locations.
