Hope In Love Widows Foundation Set To Train 50 widows At Damongo

Hope In Love Widows Foundation LBG, founded on 4th October, 2021, is set to train about fifty (50) widows in the West Gonja municipal assembly of the Savannah region of Ghana to help empower them economically to overcome some financial challenges.

The leader of the foundation, Aboya Ramatu, explained on Damongo based community radio, PAD95.1FM, that during her turn as the women commissioner for the Gonjaland Youth Association, she and the team interacted with lots of women in the area. In our interactions, most of the women told us a lot about the challenges they were faced with and are still going through similar challenges today.

"Some of the women we interacted with said they needed financial support in the form of loans, learning of trade, support to fund their childrens' education and general women empowerment.

We were able to support some but couldn't attend to all the challenges faced by the women in the Savannah region".

So after I left office as women commissioner, I saw the need to still support women in Gonjaland to help empower them economically.

November last year (2021), we came to Damongo and called for a meeting and it was successful with good turn up. During the meeting, the women told us what they want us to help them with.

So we are currently on course to training 50 of them to learn trade of their choice. Some of them will be trained in soap making, dress making, hair do, shower gel production, brown sugar, cake baking, among others, she added.

Mis Ramatu disclosed that currently, they are running on their own mobilized resources but have written to corporate institutions, philanthropists, Members of Parliament, leadership of other institutions to help Hope In Love Widows Foundation LBG to empower women in the region.

The foundation has opened grounds at Damongo and Bole, and will soon hit Central Gonja district and Eastern Gonja assemblies (Salaga and Kpalbe) of the Savannah region.
