A swarm of stinging bees has invaded a primary school at Kananto, a community around Larabanga in the West Gonja municipality of the savannah Region stinging school children numbering 12 leaving one in a critical condition.
The incident which was reported on padfm's Karenyankye super morning show, hosted by Kumatey Gorden on Thursday, 30th June, 2022, had the Ghana National Fire service, the Ambulance service and NADMO coming to the rescue of the victims of which 5 are currently receiving treatment at the West Gonja Catholic Hospital with one under critical condition.
According to reports available to this source, the bees occupied a portion of the corridors of the school building which management of the school were planning to get rid off until the occurance of the sudden event.
The Assembly man for the area, Hon. Mohammed Mumuni who confirmed the incident said, he was informed of the sad event through a phone call from members of the community which prompted him to report the incident to the National Ambulance service who acted swiftly by conveying the victims to the hospital and lamented that, his attention has never been drawn to the presence of the bees in the school.
The National fire Service and NADMO has sinced assisted to get rid of the bees in the school to pave way for normal routine classes to resume.
Meanwhile, the five are currently receiving treatment at the West Gonja Catholic Hospital in Damongo.
