Abu jinapor supports flood victims of Mempeasem in the West Gonja Municipality

Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, member of parliament for the Damongo constituency in the savannah Region has supported some 55 flood victims who were affected by recent heavy rains at mempeasem, a farming community in the West Gonja Municipality.


According to the Assembly Man for the Achubunyo electoral area, Hon. Kipo Yakubu, the incident occurred on the 15th of June, 2022 with parts of the community totally flooded following hours of torrential rainfall which was coupled with some running water from a dam near the community, affecting some 55 households out which 12 households were severely affected and rendered homeless. 


Hon. Kipo said, he could not sleep after the information got to him and so, he quickly got in touch with the Municipal chief executive and the member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Abu Jinapor informing them of the incident.

He expressed his happiness and also thanked the MP on behalf of the Chief and people of mempeasem for the kind support extended to the affected victims.

Mr Bawa Fuseini, the Coordinator at the office of the MP for Damongo explained that, he received the information of the sad event through the assemblyman for the area and duly informed the MP of the incident and also visited the village personally to see things for himself to aid him report to appropriately to the MP for the necessary actions to be taken.


He added that, whilst plans are underway by the MP to restore the 12 severely affected households, the MP gave each of the 55 affected households GHC 500 to enable them buy some cement to maintain their rooms.

Mr. Bawa Fuseini disclosed that the MP, who is very passionate and has the people at heart, has personally visited the community and went round some of the affected households to access the situation and to interactions with the affected victims.
