Seal the few chieftaincy disputes in the Savannah Region - Yagbonwura tells committee of eminent chiefs

The president and king of the Gonja kingdom, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I has called on the committee of eminent chiefs and the standing committee of the Savannah Regional house of chiefs to seal the few chieftaincy disputes in the Region.

The king made this call  in an address read on his behalf by the Vice president of the Gonja kingdom and paramount chief of the Buipe Traditional area, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II at Bole on Thursday, 23rd June, 2022 at a General house meeting of the regional house of chiefs.


He commended the chiefs of the Land for their endurance in making sure that the custom and tradition of the Region continue to grow especially in the areas of peace, development and in the vegetation sector and also commended the regional House of chiefs and the standing committee for their commitment to duty and appealed to the Eminent chiefs committee led by Buipewura Jinapor II to as a matter of urgency seal the few chieftaincy disputes in the Savannah Region to allow peaceful co-existence among the people.


The Yagbonwura further applauded the committee for their efforts in resolving the chieftaincy issues of Bole, Sonyor, Jugboi, Jantong, Yazori and the many others adding that the focus of the Regional House is on how to look into the Damongo chieftaincy affair.


He noted that, a counsel has been appointed to assist the Judicial committees of the house in the discharge of their duties and urged the committee to take-off with the Damongo chieftaincy affair immediately and submit their report within a period of 12 weeks from now.

The savannah regional minister, Hon. Muazu Jebriel on his part said, the issues that engage the attention of the chiefs such as peace and conflict resolutions, land disputes and  chieftaincy issues are not different from the mandate of the government and that issues of the aforementioned are of concern to him as regional minister and urged the committee of eminent chiefs to look into solving the few chieftaincy cases in the Region.


He commended the chiefs for having the development of the traditional area and it's people at heart and for working in tandem with the political heads of the various administrative areas in the traditional area and the region as a whole.
