The West Gonja Municipal Chief executive, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari together with an American based philanthropic organization known as Compassion takes Action has on Monday, 20th June, 2022 handed over a borehole to the people of Grumah - kura, a farming community in the West Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region.
The MCE in a brief remarks expressed gratitude to the organization ( Compassion Takes Action ) for the intervention and explained that the Borehole facility provided by compassion takes Action will go a very long way to alleviate the suffering members of the community go through in accessing portable drinking water.
Hon. Musah further explained that, the people of Grumah - kura has consistently appealed to him on the need to provide them with a borehole to help curtail the water crisis situation in the area anytime he visited the community adding that, mobilising funds in that regard was a bit challenging for the Municipal Assembly, a reason for which he facilitated for the drilling of the borehole project for the people of the Grumah - Kura community in the Achubonyo electoral area by the philanthropic group ( Compassion Takes Action) when they contacted him for considerations on which community to consider in his municipality for the borehole project.
He urged the community members to take good care of the borehole facility and also appealed to the philanthropic group to continue to extend their support to the West Gonja Municipality in other to get the several other communities without potable drinking water to be covered under their umbrella.
The Husband of the President of the united states philanthropic group on behalf of the group, thanked the Municipal Chief Executive for his efforts in facilitating for the project and said the provision of the borehole has actually brought them together as one family and they are hoping to work together with for feature developments.
The chief of Grumah - Kura, Chamba Dunaa on behalf of the community, thanked Compassion Takes Action and the MCE for West Gonja for partly solving the water crisis situation in the community and assured them of their commitment to take good care of the borehole.
He said, the community has over the years without access to portable drinking water adding that, members of the community used to walk a far distance in getting access to water from a stream which they shared with livestock especially during the dry seasons.
Compassion takes Action, is an American Based Philanthropic and a nonprofit organization providing sustainable aid to marginalized communities.
